THE MAGICIAN

CHAPTER NINE: THE BLOOD OATH

Unknown Location

The small dark room was small and confined: the black out curtains were draped leaving the room in perpetual darkness, candles were lit illuminating the poorly lit room. Everything was covered in dust,  from the bookshelf to the ancient Victorian furniture. There on the floor Loise sat drawing to what seemed to be a pentagram with a piece of chalk. Her hands were white as snow, chalky and ashy.

Inside the carefully crafted circle were even more candles that were producing black wax. Rain could be heard pouring like a raging waterfall. The window was open aghast, small drops precipitation came rushing through the window. The wind howling like a tornedo. The old window was blown vigorously  due to the strong wind, creaking with a loud bang.

Loise Osborne was about to conjure an entity.

Her hands were sweaty and greasy, a bead of sweat trickled surreptitiously down her brow. Her magic had been taken away from her, her spells were weakend. The court of Magicians was infiltrated by the notorious Dark Order and stole the heavnly items: a cursed book, the sword of death and the grail of life; each of these "Divine" instruments gave power to all secret magicians all around the world.

The Dark Order were in possession of these sacred items using its powers for evil to spread negative cursed magic across the globe. Loise would start speaking in tongues. She pulled out a jagged knife from her sleeve, a sly magic trick. Holding the knife with her left hand she raised her right plam and slowly slit her right hand. Blood oozed out slowly dripping towards the floor. She sighed and felt pang of pain.

She tore a piece of her blouse and bandaged her profusely bleeding hand tightening it with her teeth.

Suddenly a huge blast from her door was heard, flinging it wide open. The howling wind cascaded down upon her with brute force. At the door was Clara Osborne, the Dark Child incarnate, her eyes were obsidian black her skin was crimson red, black hooves surrounded her head with a yellow halo hanging over her like a crown, her teeth were jagged and white.

She said a spell that flunged the table across the room, pushing Loise off balance and falling against the wooden floor knocking over already lit black candles. Dark smoke appeared from the wooden floor, Trigon had been summoned. Loise shreiked in agony as her soul was departing from her physical body into the dark smote.

"What have you done?" asked the Dark Child.

"There is a fine line between magic and the dark arts. Each borrows from each other. One cannot live without the other. Here me Trigon!" cried Loise.

"Trigon is a trickster. Foolish child. Have you not learned anything!?" said the Dark Child incarnate in indignation.

The ceiling turned to a black smoke and a dark figure appeared not a man but a beast with crimson red skin with jagged teeth like that of a Dark Child. Loise started to laugh like a rabid dog filled with madness. Her pearly white teeth shined brightly in the darkness. Trigon had been summoned and the balance between magic and the dark arts was off balance.

The Dark Order was winning.

Loise soul was pulled towards the ground and she became lifeless lying askance on the floor her eyes closed as if devoid of life itself. The Dark Child cast a spell that bounded Trigon to the pentagram. Trigon laughed hysterically as he was transfixed on the wooden floor.

"You think a small spell would trap me. Do you know how much cursed energy I consume my child?" said Trigon sarcastically.

"I shall consume this Earth..." he said obnoxiously.

"No you shall not!" said the Dark Child.

"Debtas von loski!" she uttered those words and immediately the room was transfigured into Limbo. Loise woke up startled as if from deep slumber in a trance like state.

"Where am I?" she asked abruptly

"I broke the spell by sending us to Limbo. Trigon has no dark magic here..."

"I have switched the domain" the Dark Child said drifting back to her human form.

Damian sat on the wooden chair hunched over in deep slumber, on the table were books that contained the secrets of magic, hidden in glyphs and spells so powerful that could move the very Earth itself. The mahogany table was filled with old books that contained the secrets of the Universe written in ancient languages and latin.

The librarian wore a white robe with a brown like rope arounf his waste, on one hand he carried a lantern and the other an enormous book. He approached Damian slowly, minding the books that were on the floor.

"Master Damian, don't let passion override your will" said the old librarian.

Damian woke up startled and confused.

"Oh, it's just you Orion" he looked up with a faint smile on his face.

"Your mother has been missing" Orion said with a worried look on his face.

"I dont care about her!" Damian said cruely.

"Very well Master Damian but remember she only did what is best for you and Clara, it is time you rested..." said Orion with compassion.

Damian was half asleep, he rubbed his eyes and stood putting the books back in their respective shelves. Deep within the Magic Library were rooms for accomodation, but he did not feel like sleeping instead he longed for fresh air. He opened the magic veil with a short spell and stepped out of the old building.

As he was trotting he couldn't help but notice two individuals wearing black trench coats that were following him. He quickly ducked into a dark alley and pulled a wand from his sleeve. The alley was dark with waste stwern all across. The rushing wind blowing immensely.

"Styafar!" he said clutching his wand with a tight grip. But the magic did not work on these men. They approached swiftly. Damian was nervous and began to sweat profusely. He incanted the spell again nothing happened. One of the two men was holding a short blunt piece of metal that looked like something out of a construction site.

He held the crowbar high and quickly flung at Damian hitting him on the head rendering him unconscious. They picked up his unconscious body and dragged him to a black sedan that was waiting near the edge of the street...
