THE LAST SAMURAI
VI
Fukushima, Japan
The Ghost of Fukushima, Yasuke, was the last of the Samurai Sakai clan, the monglos had invaded, the small island and attacked the shogunate from the main land and now tearing its way towards the territory of Fukushima burning it to the ground. They spoke in a tongue none would recognize and were bizzare and vicious like rabid dogs. Sakamoto was the head of the Sakai family clan as he was and adopted father to Ebo formally now knows a Yasuke which meant the foreign warrior in various iterations.
He taught Yasuke honor, respect and the way of the Samurai. But now Sakamoto was dying from an illness outbreak, the historical monks of the Nao Temple called the plague the black curse. It would spread like wild fire consuming children and the elderly. The black curse would make the people of Kamakura so sick that there eyes would turn obsidian black and eventually die from dehydration.
So much so, he became the head chieftain of a small fishing village called Kamakura near Kyoto. The people of Kamakura referred to him as the Ghost of Fukushima due to his malignant ways of dealimg with his own enemies, he would use: poison darts, smoke bombs and stealth to kill insurgents. But that was not the way of the Samurai...
"You are a disgrace to my clan, change your ways or forever be exiled..." Sakamoto said once.
"I may be the Ghost of Fukushima but I still have honor. What I do, I do it for my people..." reverted Yasuke.
In all of Japan, the Mongols reigned terror to the Japanese people, their goal, to conquer all of East Asia under one ruler Ganghus Khan. Yasuke and his fellow Samurai, those that were left, would raid their camps and free the slaves that were captured during the great invasion. I was once a slave and now I am freeing the likes...he would always say to himself.
His black war horse Kage was a huge stallion that rode like the wind and huge enough for Yasuke's build. He was strong and blended with the night, he named him Kage which means shadow...to keep him safe and would always be there for Yasuke just like a shadow.
The Mongols had taken over the Eastern regions of Fukushima, they made their stronghold in the small fishing village of Hamadori. Yasuke and his fellow clan members that consisted of few Samurai and any villager who coud grasp the way of the katana. It consisted of fishermen, blacksmiths and merchants united by one goal to defeat Ganghus Khan and his evil empire.
After the Kamakura incident, the dreaded enemy set ablaze homes and several Samurai were killed. Leaving Yasuke and his fellow Samurai to retreat to the snow capped mountains. There they trained the remaining men to become soldiers and win back their rightful land. And now the war drums pulsed again, for another war, a retaliation against the vile scoundrels that called themselves the Mongol Empire.
It was time for war but not haste, careful planning would need to be done. And that is where the story begins...
The trees near the foot of mount Fukushima shone radiantly in the dead of night. Yasuke and his young battalion of Samurai stood at the prefix of the Mongol territory in Jin-so Perfecture. The Mongols had a stronghold there making the people of Jin-so slaves and burning the tiny village into embers. And now the Ghost of Fukushima would liberate them...
